Grizzly Cheer wins first-ever state championship!

The McMinnville High School cheer squad won its first OSAA State Cheerleading Championship on Saturday at Memorial Coliseum in Portland.

Coached by Tracy Brandt, the squad includes Captain Maranda McCormick (senior), Daniel Salewski (senior),  Haley Schoenthal (senior),  Jordan Burgess (senior),  Julian Lemus (senior),  MaKinzee Duddles (senior),  Malayna McCormick (senior), Merica Zoch (senior),  Nancy Macias (senior),  Rochelle Schoenthal (senior),  Roho Rosales (senior),  Valeria Solan (senior),  Eliza Payne (junior), Maddie Farley (junior), Mariana Flores (junior), Sandra Marin (junior), Abby Brown (sophomore), Danyell Duffey (freshman), Kristina Fornof (freshman), Lexi Esperanza (freshman). 

The squad beat out four-time defending champion Thurston of Eugene for 2017 state title. The Grizzlies were silver medalists last year, as well as in 2013 and 2009.
