MHS Equestrian Team competes in state championships

This year, the McMinnville High School Equestrian Team qualified four of its 11 athletes for the state championship meet, which was held this month in Redmond.

The four, Kate Noble, Caitie Stoller, Kaylie Holland and Summer Preston, qualified for the state championships by being top placers in one of three meets in February, March or April. 

Top finisher is state champion Kate Noble, who won the gold medal in reining and also earned a bronze medal with Caitie Stoller the in working pairs event. Both Kate and Caitie qualify for the next level of competition, a regional meet against the top five competitors in Washington State.

At the district championships, Kaylie Holland won a silver medal, which qualified her to compete at the state meet. Kate Noble and Caitie Stoller were second place district finishers in working pairs. The two-man birangle team of Kaylie Holland and Summer Preston were fourth in district, which qualified them to compete in the state championships.

Oregon High School Equestrian Team (OHSET) is an OSAA-sanctioned sport that allows high school athletes and their equine partners the ability to be challenged, build character, and compete against other high schools in eight districts across the state. The OHSET season runs from November through May.
