Annual custom wreath and candle arrangement sale
Posted on 12/04/2015

Kerry Naylor’s Horticulture classes have launched their annual wreath and candle arrangements sale.  Students construct the holiday displays over a two-week period as part of the class curriculum and are responsible for selling the arrangements as well.

“We’re doing this a little differently this year,” said Naylor.  “This is an SAE, a ‘supervised agricultural experience,’ an entrepreneurial project, which is part of FFA.” Students participate in FFA, the national student organization for agricultural education, as part of the class.

An SAE is intended to give students occupational skills that would transfer across various careers.

“The kids create partnerships or sole proprietorships,” said Naylor.  “They learn about contracts and the responsibilities of running a business.”

The items are available by pre-order through December 15.  Click here for an order form and more information.  Also, Horticulture student Whitney Rich appeared on the latest edition of “Live at the Blackbird” with more details about the project.
